How are Porcelain Veneers done?

After your new smile makeover has been designed and approved, on your first appointment your teeth are prepared according to the smile design. An impression is then taken and sent to the laboratory. Custom temporary veneers are fabricated and placed on your prepared teeth so you can expect to leave with teeth that look much improved from when you came in. Two weeks later your porcelain veneers are permanently adhered to your natural teeth.

How long do Porcelain Veneers last?

Porcelain veneers can last indefinitely, if taken care of properly. It's important to remember that people chip or damage their natural teeth because of bad oral habits such as nail biting, biting on hard objects, and opening packages with their teeth. Bad oral habits will also damage veneers.

A second consideration is oral hygiene and routine dental check ups. If a person has poor oral hygiene and rarely visits the dentist, their teeth get decay. The same thing will happen with any cosmetic dental restoration including porcelain veneers. Once your veneers are cemented in position, just treat them like natural teeth and they will be extremely durable and look great.
